Helena Safe Routes to School programs primary goal is to improve the health of kids and the community by making walking and bicycling to school safer, easier and more enjoyable.
This spring Helena Safe Routes to Schools will organize local Bike Rodeos. Bike Rodeos are a great event where students learn and practice safe bike riding skills. We set up fun obstacle courses for kids to learn traffic rules and safety tips, while having fun. It is an important event to get more kids riding- a healthy habit to learn at a young age and to teach kids critical bike safety and riding skills.
Bike Rodeos will take place on school property either during school hours or on the weekend (dependent on school). Rodeos are free to attend, and Safe Routes to Schools will provide students with bike and helmets when needed. All participants will receive a bandana.
